一、机械加工精度是指相关工件在加工完成后所具有的包括尺寸大小、几何形状以及各表面相互位置等参数的实际值， 与其预先设计应具备的理想几何参数需求比对的相符程度;加工精度通常包括尺寸精度、形状精度和位置精度等方面的内容，尺寸精度用来限制加工表面与其基准间尺寸误差的范围，形状精度用来限制加工表面宏观几何形状误差，位置精度用来限制加工表面与其基准间的平行度、垂直度、同轴度等相互位置误差。 二、由于加工机械的性能、技术方法、生产条件等因素的不同影响， 机械加工出来的相关零件在其尺寸、形状和表面相互位置参数与理想参数总是存在一定的偏离误差，在数值上通常采用加工误差的大小来表示加工精度。机械元件的加工精度和表面质量等加工质量，是保证相关机械产品装配质量的基础， 加工误差的大小反映了加工精度的高低。 三、虽然机械加工不可能是零误差，但其加工过程中的一些误差是完全可以通过技术改革及加工严谨等方法避免的。尤其是现在人们对机械加工精度的要求越来越高，如何提高机械加工精度成了亟待解决的问题。 四、为了减少机械加工误差，需对产生误差的各项原始误差进行分析，根据不同情况对造成加工误差的主要原始误差采取不同的措施。施工图纸的多方位考虑是最基本的。一个好的机械设计产品，必须有非常精确且多方面考虑的意识在里面。将原始误差降到最低。 五、尽最大努力提升加工机械产品时用到的机床、夹具以及量具等部件的几何精度，并对工艺系统中因受热、切削力以及内应力所引起的变形进行控制等都属于减少原始误差的手段。对那些精密零件进行加工过程中，为了减少原始误差，应竭尽全力来提升精密机床的刚度及精度。此外还有两个最为巧妙地方法：转移原始误差和误差补偿法。 六、转移原始误差，实质上就是要将原始误差从误差敏感方向转移到误差非敏感方向上去。各种原始误差反映到零件加工误差上的程度与其是否在误差敏感方向上有着直接的关系。如果在加工过程中能够设法将原始误差转移到加工误差的非敏感方向，则可大大提高加工精度。 七、对工艺系统的一些原始误差，可以采取误差补偿的方法来控制其对零件加工误差的影响;实施误差补偿，就是要人为地制造出一种新的原始误差，从而补偿或抵消原来工艺系统中固有的原始误差，以达到减少加工误差、提高加工精度的目的。
